Japan's Century Club: A Glimpse into a Population's Future Over 100,000 people in Japan are now centenarians, with nearly 88% of them being women.
This milestone serves as a double edged sword – a testament to the country's advances in medical technology and healthy living, yet also a harbinger of the challenges that lie ahead for its rapidly aging population.
According to Health and Welfare Ministry statistics, the number of centenarians has grown by 7,914 from last year. This trend will only continue as Japan's total fertility rate remains at an all time low.
