The Devil's in the Details of Thailand's New Species Scientists have discovered a peculiar new species in Thailand's Thong Pha Phum National Park.
Thismia daemona, or the "devil flower," is a plant so rare and enigmatic that it has been provisionally assessed as Critically Endangered. The devil flower diverges from its genus in terms of habitat.
While typically found in lowland rainforests with perpetual humidity, this new species thrives in a seasonal, montane evergreen forest at an elevation of nearly 1,000 meters above sea level.
