Emergency Landing Exposes the Privilege of Politics The recent emergency landing of Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany's plane in Lake Wausau has raised more questions than it answers about the treatment of politicians and their staff during medical emergencies.
Tiffany, a Republican congressman running for governor on the Republican ticket in Wisconsin, was returning from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner when the light aircraft he was traveling in lost power as it approached Wausau Downtown Airport.
The pilot made an emergency landing in Lake Wausau, and both Tiffany and the pilot had to swim to safety.
